Cuty Suzuki Final Road:
Cuty Suzuki & Tomoko Kuzumi
vs.
Rieko Amano & Tomoko Miyaguchi

This was a very good match because Kuzumi logged most of the ring time. The fab four did their typical stuff in this fast-paced all action match. Of course, it had a lot of big spots, but no storyline and not much selling. Actually, the selling made Super Koji look good because at least he does a good job of putting over the moves when they happen before popping up for the "hot comeback."

Amano was really fired up here. Her work was excellent. In particular, the speed at which she was able to do her spots and transitions was really impressive. Actually, the transitions from all the young wrestlers were so smooth. Kuzumi was really good, and did all her impressive flying moves. Cuty was really out of her league here. She simply does not have the speed or athleticism to keep up with the other three.

The problem with this match was that they did all these great spots, but they didn't mean anything within the context of the match and they didn't get any reaction for doing them. These women should be over and the fans should enjoy this kind of a junior style match, but then again it's JWP so you can't really make any assessment on if the fans liked it because they always sit on their hands. I think as time goes on though, we see that a lot of it has to do with them not having the charisma or the interest in incorporating a story into their matches. On the other hand, you have Azumi vs. Amano from 9/23/99 which had no heat in spite of a totally focused knee attack by Amano.

It was goofy to have Kuzumi do the job for her team, but it's not surprising. JWP's biggest problem has been losing wrestlers, and they make it 10 times worse than it is by not figuring out ways to downplay all the losses the promotion has suffered. Even though Cuty was a lame duck, Amano forcing her to submit to her udehishigigyakujujigatame would have been the right thing to do because you have nothing to lose and something to gain. Kuzumi submitting to it keeps Amano on her level, but you'd get more out of this result in three months when Kuzumi was the champ and Cuty was gone because it could lead to a title match. Instead, it was another step toward JWP being a promotion where the same few wrestlers beat each other over and over, but it really doesn't help or hurt any of them because none of them are accepted as stars outside of their little promotion.
