TWF Sekai Single Senshuken Jiai:
Lioness Asuka vs. Kyoko Inoue

This was a very good match, but not on the level of their previous two from 1998. It was like the first one in that almost all the goodness came from Lioness, with Kyoko just being along for the ride. However, Lioness didn't take control like she did in that match, and Kyoko didn't find some of her old ability like she did in their second match. The match was at it's best when Lioness was on offense, but it was hurt by Kyoko's pitiful selling and quick comebacks.

Lioness totally dominated this with brawling tactics, including several spots using props. The gimmick spots helped the match to some extent because they looked cool, but they hurt the match to some extent because they took too long to set up. One such spot was Lioness hanging Kyoko off the balcony with a chord around her waist.

Liones tried to powerbomb Kyoko off the apron through a table, but Kyoko countered it by lariating Lioness off the apron through the table. Lioness powerbombed Kyoko off the 2nd through a table, which was especially nasty because Kyoko came up a little short so she broke the table with the small of her back. Lioness Liger bombed Kyoko off the 2nd, which was the finish of their 5/6 match. The setup of that spot was ridiculous though, as Kyoko just willingly climbed up on the table to meet her doom. Lioness invented a powerbomb with the table draped across the top rope instead of the second, which was totally killer. This should have been the finish, but the actual finish where Kyoko makes a ludicrous comeback and takes the title was one of the worst finishes of the year. Kyoko captured the TWF title for the 2nd time.

Michael: It appeared that Kyoko's weight problem caught up with them this time. She tried in certain areas, but she just didn't have enough energy to go all out for 27 minutes. I don't like that they are starting to set a precedent with these crazy table bumps. The two bumps Kyoko took in the 5/6 match were sicker than either of the ones here, but this shit should be reserved for the ECW jabronies. There could be a real problem if some of the smaller girls start trying this because they don't have all that padding that Kyoko does.
