Etsuko Mita vs. Yuka Shiina

The good thing about this match was that Mita gave Shiina the opportunity to show her stuff. The bad thing about the match is that Shiina really doesn't have anything to show. I mean, her move set is not even as good as Tito Santana's, and he made his name in mid 80's WWF when there weren't many good moves being used by anyone in that league. Due to Mita, it wasn't as bad as most Shiina singles matches, but it was still uneventful.

Michael: Well, this match was less than half as long as Shimoda vs. Asari, and it was also less than half as good. Yuka got some decent offense in for a few moments, and she did kick out of a Bison chop and a strong powerbomb, so it was better than just an elongated squash but still nothing special.

James: One spot I liked in this match was when Shiina put on a half-crab and Mita just sat there looking bored and making no effort to put over the move, showing that if Shiina wanted Mita to take her seriously, she would have to come up with something better than a basic rest-hold they probably taught her five minutes into wrestling training. I vaguely remember Mita reacting in the same way when Momoe Nakanishi tried to use a series of dropkick's against her in a WWWA tag title match a year or two ago.

I think at least part of the reason for not selling the dropkicks is that Mita is so much bigger than Momoe. It's not really believable that Momoe could get enough on a regular dropkick to knock her off her feet or do any real damage to Mita. Not selling a 1/2 crab is just laziness, as there are really no extenuating circumstances that could be used as an excuse. It's a boring move, but it's still good enough to win some matches in Battlarts. It's not like a totally useless rest hold that 80's WWF announcers, for instance the late Gorilla Monsoon, would try to get over as a potential finisher, like how Tony Atlas or Ivan Putski really could win the match with a side headlock.
