FIRE DAY 9/6/98 Tokyo Korakuen Hall
Shin (new) Submission Queen Densetsu (legend):
Rieko Amano & Kumiko Maekawa (AJW)
vs.
Kanako Motoya & Hiromi Yagi (free)

Ironically, the pro style spots in this match were actually better than the submissions. The work was good, although it was somewhat sloppy. I attribute at least some of the sloppiness to their lack of familiarity with each other, at least in recent times. Yagi was kind of off here. She did work well with Amano, which isn't surprising since Yagi was the one that trained Amano in submission style.

This had tons of spots, but it lacked build and no one worked to their submissions. Actually, even though this was a "submission queen match," the two non submission queens, Motoya & Maekawa, seemed to go for pins every time. At least the match ended when Amano made Yagi submit, which was a good win for her.

Miko: Exactly why they picked these teams for a match called "'New Submission Queen Legend" is a little mysterious to me. Maekawa wins with her kicks and Motoya with her German suplex. The mat work between Amano and Yagi was enjoyable, as they traded nice counters and reversals and seemed comfortable working together.
