Kanda had a bye to the final because the first round match between Dragon Kid and Darkness Dragon was a double ring out at 14:19.
Magnum TOKYO & SAITO & Tiger Mask defeated CIMA & SUWA & Big Fuji when Tiger pinned Fuji in his Tiger suplex hold at 13:24. Big Fuji is the new name of Sumo "Dandy" Fuji Nichi, I guess since the year 2000 is over.

It looks like they "had to" have singles matches since they were short on wrestlers with
M2K "boycotting."

The M2K group (Mochizuki's team) said they would boycott Toryumon's 8/29 Osaka Bayside Jenny show and wrestle on the 8/29 All Japan show instead. They pretty much said they were moving on to the big leagues now (to piss CRAZY MAX off and such), and claim they will start with All Japan on 8/26. I assume they will be programmed against the Luchadores on the tour.

The Great & Tiger Mask beat CIMA & Sumo "Dandy" Fuji Nichi when Tiger pinned Fuji in his Tiger suplex hold at 12:45. By the stipulations of the match, the losing team had to face each other in a singles match with the ultimate loser having to either unmask or shave their head.
CIMA kept his hair, pinning Fuji in his mad splash at 8:30. As sad as it is, I guess it's come to the point where I have to write that Fuji's head was shaved, thus ensuring that the next time they have the big names in a match where the mask/hair is on the line, they'll also draw a big crowd.
SUWA made his fourth successful defense of the NWA World Welterweight Title, pinning Dragon Kid at 14:38 when he countered the Dragonrana.

Masaaki Mochizuki & Yasushi Kanda & Susumu Mochizuki beat CIMA & Sumo "Dandy" Fuji Nichi & MAKOTO when Kanda pinned MAKOTO at 15:49. What was Dragon thinking putting this main event in a near 5,000 seat arena? I don't question their ability to draw in this arena, but you have to be willing to present something a lot of people might be willing to pay for or just stay in a 2,000 seat arena.

3/30:

Magnum TOKYO seriously injured the tendon in his right shoulder during his match on 3/28. He was examined in a medical treatment center in Saitama on 3/29, and was told he had to take three months off so the injury could completely heal. Toryumon is sending SUWA to replace TOKYO in his SUPER J-CUP 1st round match against Naoki Sano. I expected TOKYO to lose in the first round of the J-CUP, but the prospectes of TOKYO vs. Sano were a lot better than SUWA vs. Sano. SUWA doesn't have a lot of offense, but is a really good base and catcher for flying moves. The thing is if Sano is going over than you'd expect SUWA to get most of the offense, and he isn't nearly as good offensively as Magnum. If Sano dominates then the offense will be good, but he doesn't do the spectacular stuff that you need a guy like SUWA to help you out on.

1/16: Ultimo Vows To Return

Ultimo Dragon punches Yasushi Kanda

1/16 Tokyo Korkauen Hall 2,320 sellout
Toryumon began their new tour with an overflow crowd at Korakuen Hall. Dragon Kid returned to action in Japan after being out several months, teaming with Magnum TOKYO & Masaaki Mochizuki to beat CIMA & Sumo "Dandy" Fuji Fuji (the results had Fuji written in hiragana then kanji) & MAKOTO when Dragon used his Dragonrana on MAKOTA at 20:41.

Overshadowing any of the matches was the announcement by one of the best, smoothest, and most diverse wrestlers in history, Ultimo Dragon, that he intentended to return to action in the squared circle. Dragon, 33, hasn't wrestled since a WCW approved doctor screwed up surgery on his left elbow in 1998, leaving him with limited mobility. He was told several times he'd have to retire, but kept refusing to say it himself. After the main event on this Korakuen Hall show, he said he would begin training for his comeback next month in Mexico. He'll be back in Japan in May for another series of Toryumon shows that will include the debut of their new wrestlers, but his in ring comeback wouldn't be until sometime next year if he's able to pull it off.
