Toshiaki Kawada & Tsuyoshi Kikuchi vs. Doug Furnas & Danny Kroffat 14:10. Ferocious performance by Can-Am, totally dominating the natives in a crazy match where everything was done with maximum style and impact. Can-Am had practically debilitated the natives within 30 seconds, with Furnas press slamming Kikuchi to the floor and Kroffat taking Kawada out with a Tigerdriver on the outside, rendering him so limp he'd collapse when they were trying to beat him up. Kawada's selling was awesome, and Kikuchi was getting bounced all over the building including a press slam onto 2 chairs, and stretched like a gumby. Kikuchi made the hot tag and was back in the ring elbowing Kroffat almost before Kroffat back body dropped him to floor, but Kikuchi was quickly overwhelmed, and wound up taking one of his psycho beatings. Even the submissions in this match were awesome with Kroffat jerking Kikuchi around savagely in the most vicious cobra clutch ever, and Furnas getting such an extreme angle on his Boston crab it looked like it could pop Kikuchi's back. Can-Am were ridiculousy nasty, with Furnas being particularly intimidating. They looked totally unstoppable, which is kind of what killed the match in the sense that the finish wasn't the least bit believable. Kawada & Kikuchi couldn't get anything going the entire match. It was getting so bad that Kawada theoretically made the hot tag, but what actually happened is he ran into two of Kroffat's thrust kicks then got Tigerdrivered. That's good if Kawada is going to sell more, but instead Kawada gets up, hits an enzuigiri and powerbomb then submits Kroffat with his stretch plum. Huh? The match should have been another 5 or 10 minutes longer, with Kawada either finding a believable way to win, or perhaps Kikuchi getting a flash pin to maintain the Can-Am dominance even though they technically lost. For me, the finish ruined what should have been a great match. ****1/4

Asia Tag Title Match: Doug Furnas & Danny Kroffat vs. Kenta Kobashi & Tsuyoshi Kikuchi 12:35 shown. Fantastic junior style action with one of the greatest crowds and Akira Fukuzawa announcing jobs ever to enhance the awesome action. The Can-Am vs. Kikuchi stuff is pretty similar to the excellent 2/22/92 match, what differentiates this contest is Kobashi is the dominant force. Kobashi isn't actually in that much, at least during what airs, and isn't particularly, if at all, better than the others, but he's used very effectively. As Can-Am is unable to injure Kobashi early as they were Kawada on 2/22/92, Kobashi is able to run interference for Kikuchi, and make a legitimate hot tag where he dominates both opponents. The selling isn't nearly as good as 2/22, but it's a far more competitive, back and forth match with a lot more drama as they really do a nice job of playing up the situations and near falls. The fans just eat it all up, wildly supporting the natives and trying to pump Kikuchi up. They erupt when Kikuchi kicks out, for instance of the sky high lariat, or makes a hot tag, while booing Can-Am's double teams. Kikuchi gets a little more offense in this one, and makes a great diving headbutt save after Furnas tries to put Kobashi away with his Frankensteiner. It's a shame we can't see this complete, but even in this form it's clearly one of the most spectacular matches of the decade. It's also one of the greatest examples of a spot oriented match that totally works, as the glamour gets the desired response and then some from the pumped up audience. ****3/4
