Takeshi Ono vs. Ryuji Hijikata. Hijikata, who was wrestling something like Tajiri, was impressive before he lost really easily. Solid match with crisp execution, but so short. 4:17 shown
Naoyuki Taira & Arvan Ken vs. Kamen Shooter Super Rider & junji.com. Taira looked pretty good with his U.W.F. offense. No one else showed much though. Acceptable, but rather dull match. *1/2
Independent World Junior Heavykyu Senshukenjiai: Katsumi Usuda vs. Jun Kasai. Kasai was so goofy. Usuda is normally an overly serious if not bland shooter type, but Kasai had him doing comedy spots with a banana peel. Usuda did his good stiff kicks and whatnot, but the match didn't work because this totally contrasted and conflicted with Kasai's "comedy." *1/4
Ikuto Hidaka vs. Super Crazy. These guys actually had patience, which helped get the fans involved because they were able to make them anticipate the big moves. It had the obvious high quality of athletic work, but was also solider and stiffer than I expected. The problem with the match was it never picked up to the level you'd expect from these two. It looked like it might build into an excellent match, but ended quickly without them turning it up a gere. Still had some great moves and sequences. Hidaka's misty flip is really awesome. It starts out like it's going to be a climp-up Ace crusher, but instead he flips off the top rope over his opponent but holding onto them so he can give them a reverse DDT. ***1/4
Yoshiaki Fujiwara & Tiger Mask vs. Yuki Ishikawa & Carl Malenko. Solid match. Even Fujiwara was fine, although obviously it was much better when Tiger was in. Tiger vs. Carl was particularly well worked. As was the case with the previous match, they had you thinking it was going to build up into something quite good but then rather unceremoniously ended it. **1/4
Alexander Otsuka vs. Muhammad Yone. This was some kind of boring. It took forever for anything to happen. Otsuka seemed to be going through the motions. He played heel a little, not wanting to break when Yone got the ropes and hitting the ref, but that was the only life to the match. Doing a draw is fine, but not when the match is so uneventful and drawn out just because it has to last a certain amount of time. *
