Battle Station JWP 2/9/00 J-CODE 2000 taped 1/9/00 Tokyo Korakuen Hall
-1hr 25min. Q=TV Master

Carlos Amano & Tsubasa Kuragaki vs. Yoshiko Tamura & Misae Genki. Match was pretty good when Tsubasa wasn't in, but bad when she was. 7:49 shown.

JWP Nintei Junior Senshukenjiai: Kayoko Haruyama vs. Acute Sae. They still lack offense, but they did a good job for the most part. Sae looked good going into her submissions. **1/2

Ran Yu-Yu & Devil Masami vs. Azumi Hyuga & Command Bolshoi. This match focused on Lan vs. Azumi, as Lan had taken the title from Azumi on the last Korakeun show. Both came to wrestle here, with Lan being particularly energetic, and it was really good. Devil & Bolshoi didn't really hurt the match, but I can't say they did much to help it either. Luckily, they weren't in the ring all that much. ***1/4

HAPPY NEW YEAR 8 Woman Tag Match: Azumi Hyuga & Dynamite Kansai & Kana Mizaki & Kayoko Haruyama vs. Ran Yu-Yu & Carlos Amano & Tsubasa Kuragaki & Acute Sae. Some good moves, but it had no real direction. **

Battle Station JWP 3/8/00 LORD HAVE MERCY 2000 taped 2/27/00 Tokyo Korakuen Hall
-1hr 25min. Q=TV Master

Acute Sae vs. Tsubase Kuragaki. Sae looked better, but Tsubasa offered nothing. Highlight was Sae doing a diving footstomp to the floor. 4:22 shown.

Azumi Hyuga & Command Bolshoi vs. Devil Masami & Tsubasa Kuragaki. Decent match because Devil was surprisingly into it. 7:11 shown

Kamen Tenshi (Masked Angel) Rosetta vs. Kamen Tenshi Freia. These two are really small, but good athletes. A fun little match, but it was kind of sloppy and the finish was lame. **

Ran Yu-Yu & Kayoko Haruyama vs. Misae Genki & Yoshiko Tamura. Match was definitely good when Yu-Yu was in, but the obvious job girl Haruyama was just outclassed so the opposition didn't give her any respect. **1/2

JWP Original Minutes By Minutes Rule 6 Woman Tag Match: Ran Yu-Yu & Carlos Amano & Acute Sae vs. Dynamite Kansai & Azumi Hyuga & Command Bolshoi. Fast-paced match with good work. Yu-Yu was good again, and Kansai was actually into it. ***

Battle Station JWP 4/19/00 ~ICECREAM CAKE~ taped 3/20/00 Tokyo Korakuen Hall
-1hr 25min. Q=TV Master

3 Minute Exhibition Match: Kana Mizaki vs. Tsubasa Kuragaki. Kana didn't look ready to return from her injury yet.

Kayoko Haruyama vs. Acute Sae. As comparted to their last match, Sae looked better but Haruyama looked worse. The execution wasn't perfect, but they tried more this time. **

Tsubasa Kuragaki vs. Devil Masami. Total domination. 1/2*

Azumi Hyuga vs. Carlos Amano. Carlos worked on Azumi's arm, and Azumi even sold it. Carlos controlled most of the match, and it was good both when they were doing spots and matwork, but Azumi just won out of nowhere with two moves. ***

2 Fall Count Match: Command Bolshoi vs. Dynamite Kansai. Bolshoi theoretically had a chance here since the 2 count rule makes for more flukish finishes. At least she was the one getting all the near falls. **

JWP Musabetsukyu Senshukenjiai: Ran Yu-Yu vs. Misae Genki. Lan was fiery and exciting. She seemed tougher than Genki even though she's not nearly as big because she took it to Genki and her strikes were stiff. Genki wasn't near her usual level, but Lan totally made the match so it was still good. It was pretty one-sided in Lan's favor, which was weird since Genki is from her generation and wasn't winning the title. Lan's offense was good so I didn't really mind, but overall Genki didn't look like she belonged in the match, which was surprising. ***

Battle Station JWP 7/4/00 Shin JWP 6.6 THE "Dojo" HEART & ~NO KETCH~ taped 6/6 Tokyo JWP Dojo & 6/18 Tokyo Korakuen Hall
-1hr 55min. Q=TV Master

Shin JWP 6.6 The "Dojo" Heart taped 6/6 Tokyo JWP Dojo

Azumi Hyuga vs. Kana Mizaki. They went long, and worked harder than they probably should have considering the size of the "crowd." They weren't as sharp as usual though, and the loose ropes weren't helping any. There was a little focus here and there, like Azumi working on Kana's bad knee, but as a whole the downfall was the usual problem of them not making much sense out of the moves they were doing. **1/4

Yoshiko Tamura vs. Yuka Nakamura. Tamura gave Nakamura no respect. Tamura wrestled a smart match, and Nakamura played her role fine. It was kind of boring though because Tamura just manhandled Nakamura, with Nakamura's best offense being an occassional counter into a flash pin. *1/2

JPWA Tokubetsu Jiai (special match): Kohei Sato vs. ? Hashimoto. This looked like a modern shoot, but Sato's punches were badly pulled. Without the intensity and stiffness, it's just not like the real thing. If they can improve in those aspects, this could be a cool new version of UWF.

Command Bolshoi vs. Tsubasa Kuragaki. Kuragaki seems to be concentrating too much on being like the others in JWP, rather than developing her own style. I mean, sure she's going to have to do spot oriented matches, but with her body type she's better suited for high impact and power moves than the moonsaults and space rolling elbows she's displaying here. That said, new moves like this were definitely an improvement over what she had been doing, which wasn't much. Tsubasa was able to follow Bolshoi to an extent, but not in a smooth and fluid manner. That was pretty much the story of the match, they did a lot of nice things, but due to Tsubasa they weren't done in a way that would allow you to appreciate them as much as you normally can. *1/2

Ran Yu-Yu vs. Kayoko Haruyama. Yu-Yu is really wrestling at a high level this year, but either her opponents aren't on her level or she's against some veteran that doesn't respect her because she was born to late. This match was certainly the former. The wrestling was okay, but it wasn't competitive. *3/4

~NO KETCH~ taped 6/18 Tokyo Korakuen Hall

Yuka Nakamura vs. Kana Mizaki. 3:07 shown

Acute Sae vs. Megumi Yabushita. Yabushita once again proved she's really good by coming in and having a weak version of her good matches against Sumie Sakai against an opponent she's not familiar with who isn't 1/20th the wrestler that Sakai is. Sae being able to do some judo spots certainly helped against this opponent, but it hasn't helped much against any other opponent so the credit has to go to Yabushita. **

Dynamite Kansai & Tsubasa Kuragaki vs. Reggie Bennett & Ran Yu-Yu. This was Kansai's final match with JWP. She was fine, but pretty much all she did was kick. Luckily Yu-Yu and Bennett did a good job because Kansai isn't going to get the job done anywhere these days and Tsubasa's effort only goes so far. Still, it was all action, but not that great. Everyone bid Kansai farewell after the match. **1/4

Battle Station JWP 8/8/00 taped 7/29/00 Kanagawa Kawasaki Shi Taiikukan
-1hr 55min. Q=TV Master

Kana Mizaki vs. Yuki Miyazaki. Kana still doesn't seem close to 100%, and is relying heaviliy on dull submissions. I like these two, but match was rather sloppy and not particularly interesting. *

Man & Woman Mixed Tag Match: Command Bolshoi & Z-P vs. Masao Orihara & Etsuko Mita. This match was so average. I mean, there was nothing and no one that stood out as being particularly good or bad. Z-P definitely isn't as good as the other three, but he didn't really reduce the match. **

Highlights of Ran Yu-Yu vs. Azumi Hyuga 12/23/99

Ran Yu-Yu vs. Azumi Hyuga. They started off slowly since they were going long. Lots of submissions during the first 10 minutes, but this is hardly their forte. It turned into something of a brawl for a brief period, highlighted by Yu-Yu catching Azumi in midair and dropping her on the table she jumped off. When they reentered the ring, they finally picked up the pace and started doing the fast sequences and hot moves they are known for. Azumi's selling was better than ever. They both seemed to get tired for real though. I say that because they not only did a better job of putting over the toll of the match, but they botched up some things they'd normally hit. The match was very even, which I guess explains the finish coming from one big move after the other wrestler had nearly won, but these kind of finishes don't do it for me. The length really didn't help this match. They did a good job of showing how tough they are and how close the gap between the two is, but there wasn't much done or anything particularly interesting in the first half to set this up. ***
