-1hr 25min. Q=TV Master

Kyoko Ichiki & Tanny Mouse vs. Chihiro Nakano & Yuka Nakamura. 4:23 shown.

Kamikaze vs. Benkei Daikokubo. 4:06 shown.

Winger & Chabinger (Motegi) vs. Shunme Matsuzaki & Jun Kasai. *3/4

MEN'S Teio vs. Abdullah Jr. Kobayashi. Teio did a good job of carrying Kobayashi, but Kobayashi is beyond awful. *1/4

Tomoaki Honma vs. Mike Samples. The match was fine when Honma was on offense, but Samples can't do anything but swing a chair. *1/2

Dai Nihon Nintei Death Match Heavykyu Senshuken No Rope Yuushitessen Pallet Coffin & Fire Death Match: Shadow WX vs. Ryuji Yamakawa. This match would have been better if they were in the ring more. The portion they did in the ring was good, but too much was on the ground or the top of a truck where it's hard to take bumps. The flame shooter wasn't worth using because you can't really shoot someone with that without inflicting major burns. WX putting Yamakawa in the coffin and lighting it on fire with the flame shooter was cool, but for all they teased the thing, it didn't seem like a great payoff since the seconds just put the coffin out two seconds later. *1/4

Battle Station Big Japan 7/25/99 Big Japan Excite Series taped 6/20/99 Hokkaido Sapporo Teison Hall
-1hr 25min. Q=TV Master

6/17/99 Tokyo Korakuen Hall: Minoru Fujita vs. Tomoaki Honma. The wrestling itself was good, but the match was way too short and didn't really build. Honma's head just started bleeding as soon as the match started, must be scar tissue that opened up because I've never seen anyone juice out of a test of strength. **1/4

Kiyoko Ichiki & Andromeda vs. Chihiro Nakano & Malsera. Nakano has gotten good. Her stuff agaist Ichiki was definitely the highlight of the match. Only 3 minutes shown.

Terrible Rad Black Bear vs. Kamikaze. Bear wrestles in, you guessed it, a furry bear costume that looks like it was a reject from a bad B movie. He was just, well, terrible. DUD

Junior Heavykyu Koshiki Leaguesen: Fantastic vs. Sere Beluro (?). The work wasn't that great. 2 1/2 minutes shown.

Chabinger & The Winger vs. Shunme Matsuzaki & Jun Kasai. Seemed to be one-sided and not particulary good. 2 1/2 minutes shown.

Shadow WX vs. Mike Samples. Samples looks like he spends most of his time sampling greasy foods. He was undescribably bad in this match, and it wasn't like he was overShadowed by WX's performance. They brawled all over, displaying next to no ability. Both men bled like crazy. They didn't abide by any "rules" all match, so the finish where the ref declared it a no contest because Samples wouldn't break didn't make any sense. They had a "heated" post match to build anticipation for the rematch, which undoubtedly will also blow goats. -**

Dory Boy (Kojika) & Terry Boy vs. Abdulah The Butcher & Abdulah Jr. Kobayashi. Kojika wore a wig to the ring so he'd look more like Dory Funk Jr. Too bad he doesn't have any of Dory's ability. Abdullah Jr. actually looks more like Killer Kahn than Abdullah, IMO. They wrestled, if you can call it that, Abdullah's match so there was a lot of blood but no actual wrestling. Teio was totally wasted, all he did was get holes poked in his chest until it was bleeding heavily. You'd be hard pressed to find two wrestlers worse than Kojika & Butcher, but this still wasn't as bad as the Samples match. -*

Highlights of WX vs. Honma from 10/31/98. This was insane, highlighted by WX powerbombing Honma off the stage through a barbed wire board.

Dai Nihon Nintei Death Match Heavykyu Senshukenjiai Anywhere 3 Way Board Death Match: Ryuji Yamakawa vs. Tomoaki Honma. This was awesome for a death match. Of course, there was no selling at all and the psychology was non-existent. As usual they killed themselves 50 times more than they needed to because all they did was spots, spots, and more spots. The difference is these guys, particularly Honma, can work and execute their nutty spots. This was a total junior style spotfest. What separated it from all the other spotfests is that they used all these gimmicks to make the spots different. Instead of a regular springboard move, Honma did one where he shattered a florescent bulb over Yamakawa's head. He also lit a florescent light bulb on fire and jumped off the balcony to hit Yamakawa with it. Honma did a tope con giro, but it was insane because if he didn't clear the top rope, he would have landed on a bed of nails. Honma did a nadare shiki no Frankensteiner, but he did it so he put Yamakawa through a barbed wire board. Honma tombstoned Yamakawa off the apron, but he did it so Yamakawa would do through a board with a bunch of florescent light bulbs. They just had less than no regard for their bodies. By the end of the match, these guys were literally bleeding from everywhere you could see. It was disgusting. The match robbed the moves and gimmicks of any and all value because they rolled out so many spots without ever slowing down. However, for what it was, no brawl in ECW over the past few years can touch it and it makes Cactus's US stuff look time. This was definitely the best Big Japan death match I've seen. ****

Battle Station Big Japan 8/8/99 Summer Jumbo Series taped 7/25/99 Tokyo Korakuen Hall
-1hr 25min. Q=TV Master

Jun Kasai vs. Ryumi Ito. Ito looks like a good prospect. He's a lanky kicker with good athletic ability and flexibility. They only showed 2 1/2 minutes, but it seemed like a fine short opener.

Malsera vs. Andromeda. These two definitely have potential, but Lucha doesn't look good when it's done so deliberately. At least by wrestling deliberately, they hit their spots. The three minutes that aired were watchable because they did a lot of spots.

Kamikaze & MEN'S Teio vs. Benkei Daikokubo & Abdullah Jr. Kobayashi. This wasn't good because Kamikaze & Teio had nothing to work with. 2 1/2 minutes shown.

The Winger & City Monkey & Spider Man vs. Terrible Ted Black Bear & Chabinger & Shunme Matsuzaki. Monkey's costume is almost as lame as Bear's. This match was a dull, slow-paced match. The fans liked the comedy, but I didn't think the match worked because they didn't do this before or intersperse it with any of the hot moves you'd expect from juniors. *1/4

Shadow WX & Tomoaki Honma vs. Ryuji Yamakawa & Mike Samples. Honma is really impressing me these days. Still, with WX and especially Samples involved, he couldn't save this match. They didn't do that much brawling, which meant Samples was quadruply useless. They also didn't really do any wrestling sequences. Since Honma was the only one that looked competent, it was only natural that he did the job. *1/4

Kyoko Ichiki & Chihiro Nakano vs. Shark Tsuchiya & Crusher Maedomari. Ichiki did a plancha off the balcony!!! She was the best of the four, which meant Nakano didn't do much because the other two only strive to top each other for worst performance. As you'd expect, Ichiki & Nakano were largely destroyed, but they actually didn't have to put Shit over because Shark & Crusher got "out of control" causing some lame screw job. *

International Eight Man Scramble: Ryuji Yamakawa & Abdullah The Butcher & Mike Samples & Men's Teio vs. Tomoaki Honma & Abdullah Jr. Kobayashi & Shadow WX & The Great Kojika. Boy did this suck. Honma was easily the best again, doing a good job of putting his opponents over, before once again getting stuck doing the job. This booking just made no sense to me. They gave Honma the top billing, yet had him job twice in the same night when there were certainly other guys who need the win less and could have jobbed. To make things worse, Honma was pinned by Kojika in the worst la magistral ever. If I didn't see the kana, I wouldn't even have called it la magistal because Kojika pulled Honma down into the mat instead of jumping over his back, thus robbing the move of all the skill it takes to apply and all the coolness of seeing it performed. There was a lot of blood, but the brawling wasn't crazy or even remotely interesting. 1/2*

Dai Nihon Saikyo Tag League Yushoketteisen Geikoto (fluorescent light bulb) & Barbed Wire Board Death Match: Tomoaki Honma & Ryuji Yamakawa vs. Shadow WX & The Winger.
